Yes to Tom Bombadil, Gorthol. And thanks for trying I don't think Boromir ever held the ring in the book, though. There is one other that I can recall - before Tom B.

hmm, you're of course right about Boromir. Sorry for confusing the two. I believe that Gandalf scooped up the envelope containing the ring and place it on the mantle.

Yes you are right about Gandalf and the envelope when Bilbo leaves. But Frodo gives the Ring to Gandalf in the Shadow of the Past chapter. Gandalf "held it up" then "the wizard threw it suddenly into the glowing corner of the fire" to reveal the fire letters.

As an aside, it has always mindly troubled me that Gandalf takes the Ring from the tongs and says it is "quite cool". It does not seem to fit with Isidur's account given by Gandalf at the Council, where Isildur described the Ring as "hot as a glede" and said his hand was scorched and he would never be free of the pain.

Anyway, it's Lalaith's turn

Yes, but it also burned Isildur whenever he wore it.

I, however, think she forgot.

Of course it is! But how does that connect to the subject?

Sorry, that it took me so long. I really forgot it. Now thinking of a good one.
Who was the Lord of Despair? And tell me at least 3 other names of him.

(okay, not really hard)

I think you mean the Captain of Despair who is the Lord of the Nazgul.
AKA Black Captain, Witch King of Angmar, the Sorcerer of Dol-Guldur, Lord of Morgul, Lord of the Nine Riders, and Dwimmerlaik (by Eowyn).
