Joseph Campbell & Star Wars.

I have just started reading "Hero of a thousand faces." Has anyone else read any of his works? How much do you REALLY think Lucas was influenced by Campbell's mythological research, as opposed to the so-called Pop-culture?

many years ago there was a special on about this.

at the time i was impressed. but now my opinion of the whole "power of myth" thing not very high

people look for these motifs as a "special" meaning

to me it as about as bunk as freud and jung.

About Eowyn,
Does anyone know what her alias Dernhelm means?

She was kown as dernhelm because of her exclaimation when she realized that the rider's headgear was heavy and obscured her sight.

I’ve seen an interview of Lucas on TV. He did clamed to be familiar with “Joe’s” work.

In my English class this year, when we were studying a hero's journey, we watched a video about Joeseph Cambell and mythology, and they had a part where Cambell was at Skywalker Ranch and discussing the mythology of Star Wars and showing some cool clips from the movie.
