favorite race and why

Which of the races of middle-earth did you like best. Any race so even animals and beasts like wargs and dragons count.
My favorite has to be men because you can tell they have so much pride and
honour. They aren't the strongest, the oldest, or the wisest but they are definately the coolest. I mean who is going to mess with a well seasoned male human warrior. Nobody. Thats right nobody.

I'll tell you who'd mess with a "well seasoned male human warrior". An Elvish one, that's who. My favorite race has to be Elves. What's not to like about them? They are beautiful, artistic, wise, you name it...

P.S. Welcome to the moot Haradrim how about introducing yourself in the welcome thread in the General messages forum?

oh come on. In a straight fight an experianced human fight would kill the experianjced elven fighter in a heartbeat. Really. The human may be less graceful but he is stronger and much more forceful. And I think that would make him win.

Why would the Man be the more forceful? Is it because he has a beard?

Yeah, I'm with Beren on this one. An Elf would whip human booty any day.

Of course Searos didn't prove to be much of a match for Turin, did he?

Yeah, but elves have this annoying tendency to be able to see and hear a human stumbling about; I reckon this could have an unfair advantage over the silly clumsy human.

*BoP would like to see a fight between Feanor and Turin though.

Turin was one of the greatest warriors ever, and was trained by the elves, while Searus was a simple counselor. The Elves are stronger than men, It seems to me. I think Tolkien mentions it in the Silmarillion a few times, but I can't quote it... So as you can understand, I'm with the elves.

Hobbits. Yes, those simple, peaceful creatures that live in holes. Deep in the center of each hobbits' heart is a courage just waiting to emerge. Their size is... perfect; that way you don't have to feel short, if you are; instead of looking up, you look down.

Okay, first I want to know how this match up between man and elf is set up. Are we on a huge field where there is no hiding and it is just straight-forward combat? or are we in a forest where hiding and secrecy has a lot to do with the battle? What are the stakes? and shall we pick a champion from each side and see how it plays out? I shall pick for humans you guys choose your elf. We shall see who wins.
I cast Faramir as the champion of men. (before the ring)
also I woul dhave gone with Aragorn but he was trained by the elves so it is not really fair.

My vote is for hobbits, also. They can out-eat any other race in Middle-Earth!!

My favorite is hobbits, too. It would be easy for me to live with hobbits, I'm sorta short and it would be fun to have pantry raids and not get in trouble for it.

I believe that one of the Noldor could easily take any human. I mean, one of them, Fingolfin, took on Morgoth himself and wounded him, twice wasn't it? And two of the Balrogs were killed by Noldor, including Gothmog, himself, by Ecthelion. Glorfindel put paid to the other, unnamed Balrog. This isn't why I like the Noldor the best, but it is certainly one of the reasons.

I think that Fingolfin wounded Morgoth 7 times.

Maybe you are correct. I will conceed that maybe the elves are stronger as a race in general. However, if the humans were fighting for a cause an dthe elves were just blindly fighting I would ahve to give it to the humans. Men just seem to be able to pull through in the unlikliest of situations. But in a one on one mono a mono race I will give it to the elves.

The 400 Individual Medley - because to swim it well you must be proficient in all four strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle... plus, it's the 400, not just the 200, so it also requires great endurance.

Hey... what kind of race are you guys talking about anyway??

Ah, a Who Can Beat Who Debate. My favorite. My vote's for Super Man--Gandalf can use all the firebolts in the world, Super Man's still capable of throwing the old man into outer space. So now the Elf/Man debate is settled: Super Man wins.

[irrelevent]My favorite race would be Long-haired English Tri-colored Guinea Pigs. They originate from Peru, which is technically a country of Middle-earth (just not in any time period written about by Tolkien).

The Long-haired English Tri-colored Guinea Pigs are hairy little critters that eat anything and squeek all night, but they're very cute and friendly. Mine grew to enormous size (probably because he literally ate his house), and I came to call him Fatty Bolger.[/irrelevent]
