Well basically 'Beleg' is a collective noun. It means anything that goes on bread or a sandwich. So it can range from cheese to meat to paste to salad or too whatever people put on it.... I started to say 'Beleg' instead of 'Beleg' so I don't constantly think about food when I read about the poor guy.

*thinks of an elf named Baloney...* Neh neh neh!

I think in the end I'm a Feanor kind of girl, though i wouldn't say no to Tuor. I'm not easy, I'm just open to suggestion.

Hmmm, I suppose a rough equivalent in English might be "fillings", but I can't think of a better translation right now.
I pronounce his name 'Beleg' - is that wrong? (accent on first syllable)

And now, for your poetical enjoyment, from The Lays of Beleriand, Vol. III of HoME, this stirring quote:
Quote:
from The Lay of Lúncheon.. uh, Leithian, lines 785-788
And thus in hunger Baloney paid
for that great meal upon him laid,
the deathless love of Lúncheon,
too tasty for love of mortal men;

OK, OK, I apologize - will you put your stick away? I promise to be good for at least an hour or so

This is just too funny. I have to congratulate the posters here because though I have seen the quotes before, I wouldn't have dreamt of using them as you have.

“What does the term american refers to” asked the boy, and the wise man answered: “Lets look at the dictionary then.”
As an adjective American is:
1. Of or relating to the United States of America or its people, language, or culture.
2. Of or relating to North or South America, the West Indies, or the Western Hemisphere.
As a noun American is:
A native or inhabitant of America.
A citizen of the United States.

Then the boy asked, “What is America then?”, and the wise man looked at the dictionary again:
1. The United States.
2. also the A·mer·i·cas. The landmasses and islands of North America, Central America, and South America.

Confused, the boy asked, “Does the term american refers solely to a us citizen or to any person in North, Central or South America?”
The wise man replied: “What do you think?”, and the boy answered: “It is clear to me that while the term american is used to refers to us citizens, one can also use it to refer to any person who is from that continent too,” the boy thought for a while and asked the wise man, “Am I right?”, and he replied: “But of course.”
The boy wondered, why is it that some people refuse to acknowledge the fact that the term american refers not only to US citizens but to anyone of the American continent?, but then sadly, the boy understood, that it is the calamity of ignorance.

Looks and talent don't mean much when you're a total jerk. Now a guy like Finrod has everything. There's a dude that is hard to top.

I hold Melkor to blame for most of Feanor's problems...I agree that Finrod was a great guy...helping Beren and all!...still Feanor was the greatest of all the Noldor

Only because of his creations. He also was the cause of all their griefs.

Still Feanor didn't make his sons swear the oath...and everything he told the Noldor was from what Melkor had told him...regarding men and the valar

Well, that's because he's a complex character!
