This autumn's A-levels, I'll write Geology and Swedish (the only bloody reason for the latter is that I can't do Maths - I can't think logically! ) Last spring, I did Philosophy. Geology is just... interesting. To understand how the very Earth works, how the tsunami come to be, what are the orographical winds... (did I get that o-word right?)

Why exactly do you like Rousseau? I really don't remember any dudes from my Philosophy classes. I don't care what someone used to think, I make up my own philosophy. And, in any case, none of the philosophies that have been made up will work. You just have to grab the good parts and to... OK I'll be nice... to trash bucket with the rest.

Anyway, next spring, I'll just do English and mother-tongue. That is, Finnish... wonderful...

Not by thinking your mother-tongue is wonderful, at any rate - and praising the Finnish language on a Tolkien board is only appropriate.

If there are other reasons, I really couldn't tell.

I think the last time I was active, the Teacup was still only 28 incarnations in age. Now it's 31!!! How long on average does it take to complete 1000 posts in one of these (and how many margaritas)?

I love Geology aswell, like earth science, kinda the same thing. My step father is a geologist. I find it so interesting how the earth works and all, or we think we know how it works. But anatomy is really what gets me. Everything about the human body fascinates me, above anything else.

Rousseau....Rousseau....what is it about him that I am attracted to...? Well many things. I am currently reading his Discourse on Equality. Its basically like a Man vs. Nature type of thing, to put it in the simplest of words. I find truth in a lot of things that he has to say, I cant really pin point it exactly...Philosophy to me, is much like Astronomy. You think you have the right answers only to be proven wrong...again...and again. I like making up my own philosophies too. And of course, they are always right

I'll celebrate tomorrow: first day off since school started

Noble, my Geology classes where like that as well. Do they also teach you about migration and the push-and-pull-factor system etc? It comes in handy when you study things like Economics and Tourism.
In Japan I followed a course called Migration Studies and it was pretty much what I learned in secondary school, with a bit more background and country specific information. The theories were the same though,

Yes, they did... I'm not that interested in humans, but that sorta thing was kinda interesting.

Thanks, Varna. I meant whether I'm evil because I said I don't much care what some "great philosophers" have said. Then again, I do also think and fear that we humen are evil deepest down.

Note, some of us are, fortunately, good deep down, but deepest - well, if we had a choice free of resbonsibility, I'm afraid we'd please ourselves only, one way or the other. ...

A lot of people already act as though they have no responsibility or even try to reason away their responsibility.

Well, economics aren't specifically social studies
Though people of course ARE important. It's not just a row of numbers and some graphs.
Ah, it's a great course. Difficult, but great. ^_^

On Saturday, I was checking my online banking and noticed that there was a hold for $107 on my account. I was concerned, because I had not authorized any payments that I could remember for anywhere near this amount, and wracking my brain, I couldn't come up with anything it could be.

This morning I called the bank, and found out it was to some random pre-paid mobile company (I have a contract phone through Verizon). The bank gave me the number, and I called, and the first thing the number said was along the lines of "If this company has appeared on your bank statement and you don't know why, press one." This made me more than a little uncomfortable, and although I stayed on hold for a few minutes, I quickly hung up as I didn't want to give these people (who I very much doubt are a legitimate company) any more information about me.

So I called the bank, who told me I would have to go to the police and file a report in order to get my money back. Why on earth the bank can't just stop the payment is beyond me. Especially as it has not technically cleared my account yet.

But I just got back from the police station, who said I could pick up my report (to take to the bank) at around 2:00pm today. They were nice, anyway, and the police officer seemed to know what to do.

What a freaking disaster.
Dude, that sucks!

I don't think anyone can remember

OMG! Wed morning our power went out due to the storms that Gustav spawned. We were out all day, but you know I shouldn't be complaining because some people still don't have power. Along with the power outage, our phone line went out. We finally got the phone line back on this morning! Sheesh! And that was after the third call to the phone company via cell phone.
