we need people to scout out perfect locations for each different part of the story.
Is there someone out there that travels a lot?

I guess Galdhøpiggen here in Norway could make a nice Caradhras...

Hmm. Before you get too far into casting you might consider Jerseydevil and Black Breathalizer as co-sub-directors and creative advisers to get a balance of book/movie elements in the series.
(The pre-shoot discussions would certainly be interesting).

well, I already volanteered for the minature models and set designs, but I'll direct the initial shots that wse the minatures too, that way I can design them for specific shots myself,, and I'll know what areas to pay particular attention to. Also, the black hills of south dakota would be a good place to shoot the travel along the foot of the misty mountains towasrds the gate of moria, complete with wolves.

That'd be neat. wild wolves in it. untamed .
What part of montana? I was actually thinking Oregon for a couple of good misty mountain shots.

Yeah, oregon is good. Actually, looking west from the great plains, you can get some really good shots of the mountains, espiclally in yellowstone. Montana would be a good place for Rohan, and The colorado river would make a goods anduin (the mississippi would be okay, but there arent too many mountains. It would make a better sirion, but thats a different story...)

That would be really cold (no shivering smily face ) Where would be a good Mordor be, IYO? I'd say probably along the pacific coast, wherer the ring of fire (volcanos) is. There's really no suitable land,. Iraq is somewhat barren, but not covered with ash (and it might be a little dangerous

Well, as far as that goes, I think that Lord of the Rings could use its own music. Classical music is very good, and there are many instances where there is already a song perfectly suited to the scene, but I think that its own music would make it that much richer. Howard Shore did a good job, and I think that James Horner would do very well (if you look past Commando), but B. Banner could take a shot too.

Modest Mussorsky's Night on Bald Mountain would work pretty good for Weathertop, though (IMO)

I can't believe no one has taken the job I want: I would like to be a SCRIPT WRITER (write the screenplay)! With all the criticisms of the current movies, I figured this would already be taken -- but I imagine there'll be a few script writers, yes?
