Blind Guardian is power metal, I heard a few of there songs not great, but not bad musically wise. (Some of the guitar solos are nicely done) If you are a big tolkien fan and like metal then you will most likely enjoy it.

I almost got the CD today but no place carries it. They're not in the most popular category.

Anyway, don't you have Kazaa? Downdoad a few mp3s if you're not sure.

I got "Nightfall in Middle Earth" a few weeks ago for my brother. I really like the little booklet that comes with it because it's a short little narrative about the happenings of The Silmarillion as told through Maglor's perspective. I read that as I listened to the CD all the way through. It is very nicely done.

I haven't heard it yet, but because of this thread I bought it for my brother in law, and he likes it. I am getting him to tape it for me.

Good Good! You will enjoy it! What type of music do you normally like?

Well, I was a metalhead in my younger days, but I've mellowed out. I like a huge variety of music, from classical to rock. I generally like good music rather than a specific type, so I think I'd at least appreciate Blind Guardian, even if it is heavier than what I like to listen to on a daily basis. Plus, my curiousity is piqued -- as anything ME related will do!

This isnt really supposed to be music from middle earth or "tolkien music" if that is what you meant above... it is music (power metal, very very rock... not that nu metal crap) that is based on stories from middle earth and is very epic.

I love this band.
I have d/loaded a lot of their songs off kazaa:

Nightfall
The Curse of Feanor
Bard's Song
Noldor
Mirror, Mirror
Time Stands Still
The Eldar
Gandalf the Magician (instrumental)

My favorites are Noldor and The Curse of Feanor.

Have you heard of Metal??? .... and who said it was Tolkien music? Its their interpretation, just like the LotR movies is Peter Jackson's interpretation.

I love Blind Guardian! I have one of there cds Somewhere Far Beyond even the cover art of the cd looks like a scene from lotr. The two songs that are obviously connected to lotr on this one are: "The Bard's Song- In the Forest and -The Hobbit" they're really cool! Lots of people say it's just the same tune over and over, but I don't think so.
