I missed this thread before and just saw it because of the post in the Middle Earth forum. But I don't think it's that weird of a conincidence. The song was around long before The Lord of the Rings was written. Maybe JRRT purposely skipped the number 5 because he didn't want people making corny jokes about the five golden rings.

all of those are sacral numbers - 1, 3, 7, 9. And five is somehow out of the rank. Simple, it is. Though it is used anyways - 5 wizards of the order etc
