I think, it will be very difficult to start the reception without prior discussion with Val. He prepares a nasty surprize, or so I understood.

However, I think, Shah, Ray and Viv could go on adventure this night, i.e. right now. They are not meant to be at the reception.

I have an idea. Penny is drinking himself senseless at the Herring. Why won't Ray see him and bring him home to Orrodel on his horse? Then Penny, after undergoing quick sobering procedure, specific for Nazgul, could be left in charge of Lilly, and Ray and Viv are free for adventure, while Khamul is away on the reception!
