Ever wonder why Thrandual, Bard of Laketown and Beorn didn't help in the War of the Ring? They though the battle of five armies was BIG.....forget it...some valuables, fueds and a dorky dragon? Come own! They can fight the bigger battles! What happened! P.S. Do you notice all the major conflicts in Middle Earth were about Jewlery? The Silmarillion: War of the Jewels The Hobbit: War For Smaug's Stolen Jewelry and that STUPID Arkentstone.
