Commanding the wolf to stay with a gesture, Angar crept toward the old man with the surety and silence of an elf who had dwelt long in the wilderness. His sharp elven ears strained to pick up any words in the old man's mumbling. He did not know if this stranger walking in the woods had any relevance to the events of the previous night, but he decided to follow him in order to find out.
But I mustn't go too far, he thought, or my newfound allies may leave without me. |
