My favourites are Gandalf, Glorfindel, and Tom Bombadil.
I didn't think that Gandalf was portrayed well; to me, he was more stern and gruff in the book, whereas in the movie he was often overly kind; he at one or two times almost gave me the impression of being senile, almost unaware of the great and terrible deeds afoot; obviously, this is not so, as he told Frodo of them, but it is an impression I got. However, I feel that Gandalf's character, while not well represented, was one of the less poor ones. As for the others, I think I needn't answer.

Gandalf in the movies was okay, but i do not like the actor. Gandalf did not get as much time in the two towers as in fellowship of the ring, something that i was puzzled, him bieng in the book a lot.

I like Ian McKellan; he rocked in X-men. However, I didn't think he was a very good Gandalf.

There are already several 'character' threads floating around out there.
who's your favorite character from the movie and why? What actor was least like their character from the book? Favorite character interpretations kinda poll thingie... Who's YOUR favorite character??? Try using the search feature before starting a new thread.
