Worst case scenario is that they haven't been digitally doctored to give an invisible shimmering refraction effect. I hope it'll be something like the alien in Predator, just move the light around.

Or PJ may just alter the plot and have them not be invisible.

They look like bones to me, actually.

*kicks self for looking at picture*

Nah, I don't think they look like bones. Look at the one second from the left. The back of the hand is smooth, not bony.

Re: Wraiths fingers

I have been informed that none of the post-production editing has been done yet. So those are probably the actors' real hands, and they will be edited out later.

If that IS how they're supposed to look, they do look sort of wraith-like and evil...

Re: Wraiths fingers

Don't expect anything like the images we've seen so far to appear in the final cuts of the movies. As Elanor points out, a lot of work has yet to be done.

As they are shown in the preview, I think they look like geriatric contenders in Mortal Kombat.

Re: Wraiths fingers

Are we sure that these are Nazgul? Probably so, but when I first watched the preview I was under the impression that these were Barrow Wights. Just a thought...

Re: Wraiths fingers

No, they're wraiths at Weathertop. There's five of them, they all have those blades, plus the hoods and cloaks are a dead giveaway.

Re: Wraiths fingers

Those are the Nazgul:
1. All four hobbits did not meet the Barrow-wights at once.
2. The background is that of Weathertop, not the 'Downs.
3. I was informed that the Barrow-Wights, as well as Tom B., have been cut from the movie.

More mindless drivel from me... :-)

Re: Wraiths fingers

I'm sure you're right, but keep in mind that, unless I'm mighty mistook, no such confrontation between the Nazgul and the Hobbits occured on Weathertop either. As Sam recounts they only saw some vague shadowshapes (other than Frodo of course). But I've also read that Tom and the wights have most probably been cut out, and you're right that the background looks more like weathertop than a barrow. I guess I was just hoping, and I figured the barrow adventure was a little more ethereal and they might be more apt to take liberties with it than with the encounter at Weathertop.

Oh well!
