Gandalf Who's for your opinion the most 5 important characters?

I think that the most 5 important characters in the book are:
Gandalf, Frodo, Sam, Pippin and Aragorn.

Gandalf was said to be the Main protaganist in the war of the ring, with Legolas doing the least, but as for most important Characters, it would have to be Sauron.

I don't understand why you included Pippin on your list, he didn't do as much as others did, such as Saruman or more importantly Gollum.

Gandalf

But, Comic Book Guy, you didn't say who's you 5 characters.
when I'm thinking again, you're right, Pippin wasn't important.

I think you're right about sauron, CBG. So . . . Sauron, Gandalf, Frodo, Sam, Aragorn.

That may be so, but as for Importance he doesn't quite fit that catagory in my opinion, sure he assisted in the Slaying of the Witch-King, he never really did anything outstandingly important. Of course, everybody played their own role in the War of the Ring, Gandalf 'organised' everybody, Gollum found the Ring and destroyed it, Frodo and Samwise are both the main characters (Samwise more than Frodo, some believe) and so forth.

I think Pippin is important because if Pippin wouldn't throw a stone in Moria Gandalf wouldn't die and come back to life stronger and white...

Well, thats like saying Manwë is important in the story because he choose Olorin to be sent to the west.

Uh Manwe is important to the story. The fact that the Valar aren't openly intervening doesn't make them less important

I know that, I was trying to make a point about why importance should not be based on the effects of their actions on others.
