JRRT robbed?

We all know GL stole a lot from movies and literature to create his masterpieces. My question is, do you think he took anything from LOTR?

Re: JRRT robbed?

2 notes : 1)HAVE YOU BOTHERED TO READ ANYTHING OFF OF BMILDERS PAGE?! 2)GL didn't steal a lot, he just "borrowed" (see the smithsonian page on the SW exibit, shows how everything he made was inspired by something else....really nice page)

Re: JRRT robbed?

That's very true Ryan . The first thing I put on my Star Wars section two years ago was comparisons to LotR, to "justify" the section's existance. (I didn't think that two unrelated subjects should be on one site at that time ) I'll add more to the list there when I get time. People have been emailing more but I didn't bother adding any since about late '97... I'm such a slacker .

JRRT robbed? Yes but...

I love both Tolkien and Star Wars. Yes Lucas robbed Tolkien for Star Wars and Willow, but Tolkien robbed many more first. Starting with King Arthur and the Bible.

Re: JRRT robbed? Yes but...

Tolkien didn't rob, he was writting mythology and all mythology, coming from the same source (at least according to me the Judeo-Christian history) is similor. He did what all the other great peoples had done, and he did it very well. Lucas took it and projected it into a new galaxy.
