Charles & Camilla -their Marriage-comments And Opinions On It *specifically*

OK, now this topic can start afresh. They've been married a while now and issues are being raised about how they conduct themselves. For example, Camilla recently cancelled a public appearance in connection with her "duties" for no specific reason.

How do you see them integrating with the royal family and the duties assigned them. Who will decide if and when Charles is King and does this affect the family. Will Dianas boys live with Charles and Camilla and watch the telly with them.

These are the guidelines for this topic. Not overall politics which is handled in a more secure thread. I want this thread to be more HUMAN to the two newly weds and to be a bit more on their side when it comes to makes statements.

If you can't follow that guidance, than it would be best to go start up your own thread with its specific guidelines and outlining the general slanders etc. you'd permit there, AS ON THIS THREAD FLAMING, SLANDER, RUDE AND LACIVIOUS REMARDS WILL BE EDITED OUT AND A WARNING GIVEN.

THIS IS ALL IN EFFORT TO STRAIGHT FORWARD-DECENT AND CIVILIZED DIALOGUE.

To hell with them both. There are few things I can think of right now as repugnant as a couple of self-important middle-aged useless hypocritical aristocrats and their stupid little marriage. Why on earth do people really give a s***???

Lotesse maybe you should read the charles to marry camilla thread!
It was an irreverent (too dangerous for the Moot evidently)
(ala Spitting image or various UK sattire shows) piss take on them whilst making some serious points and offering a comic non formal forum for the issue in general as indeed you offer above: you'd have been most welcome there!

Hi spock

I see you pounced then: i was waiting! I thought that "prod" my do it
(of course it's all Rian's fault now! )

*envisages Spock lighting large Cuban, large contented smile and saying out of the corner of his mouth, bounty-hunter style:

"I always get my man"

*smoking gun mingles with the cuban as it spirals up into the sunny Mexican air*

They more than make up for their "sponging" by generating dollars through tourism, y'know.

IIRC, one of the main arguments which prevailed in the most recent Australian referendum on becoming a republic was that you would just end up with another damn politician as a head of state.

So, who would we have instead of Charlie? One of Tony Bliar's cronies? Des Lynam? Bernard Manning? A dog?

my cat would make a good president...

failing that, tony benn, george galloway, maybe even move into the centre and have charles kennedy, or just have the pm as head of state aswell, anyone but a monarch

I'd vote for your cat. What are his policies on constitutional reform?

That's enough, this is getting too silly. Let's try to get back on a serious note.

Actually I wasn't being satirical, I was being serious.

Really actually, I saw Spock's Python thing and took it in good heart. Poor fella, he's trying to keep us on topic and we just won't. Respect for trying though.

The problem is the essential dullness of the topic. Charles married Camilla; so what? Unless you want to get into achingly dull discussions of the constitutional minutae of umpteen Commonwealth countries, there isn't really anything to say about it is there? unless it's off topic.

People in the UK can remember a time that they cared about the monarchy in large numbers (like when he married Diana), but they don't now.

I see Prince William is getting a leg-up in the old publicity stakes from Sir Clive Woodward though.

Carry on, carry on .

Oh, and I can't stand the idea of that git being remarried to Camila. I want Diana back . She rocked.

They do seem to take after her a good bit, don't they? Thank God.

Maybe we just need to give Camila some time, though, and she'll improve or something. Ya never know, I guess... still... not holding out much hope for that.

That's the thing though. Diana was the last member of the Royal Family that anyone truely cared about, but IMO her being there made veryone the slightest bit nice to the rest of them.

I agree with Chrys, if the only reason we still have them is because tourists like them, then get rid of them.

*oh, Gordon Bennett*

I'm closing this thread. Although I had hoped to have a topic stay on topic, it is not happening. Remarks and opinions seem more suited to other threads which have been in existance much longer and so this particular thread, no longer serves the purpose to which I had aspired. Thanks to all who tried.
