Openness? Chinese government? They don't deserve it, they've got some of the worst human rights problems in the world. I can't believe it

Re: Heh.
Some of the girls I know might make it on the 2008 beach volleyball team. That would be cool.

Re: Heh.
.. on the other hand... When I see videos of Jeffrey Owens in the 1936 games in Berlin, pissing off the nazi regime, there's always that great feeling inside. Never know what might happen in front of the cameras... |

(You called him Jeffrey - his name is James)
Four gold medals in the middle of the Reich...
Yeah, maybe a Christian will pull something like that off in Beijing... given that we (referring to Christians) piss them off even more than the Falun Gong... |

oops!
ya, jesse... a mistake, but no disrespect. darn! had even a web site on this in my face, when i wrote that... now where did that "jeffrey" come from...? ... well, a chinese athlete winning a gold medal, and then on the podium revealing himself/herself to be from the Falun Gong... anyways... i don't think any outsider can piss them off much. unless they are sent Babwa Walters. or Howard Stern. /ed: or better: let's send them the mayor of Toronto, with his "colorful" way of saying things |

Re: (You called him Jeffrey)
pros: i'm sure we'll see a nice opening ceremony. Chinese are masters in coreography shows: they're so disciplined.
cons: anybody knows what is the Beijin's time zone? about politics: althoug the political establishment will try to take advantage of the games, i hope they would be forced to change a bit towards respect of human rights. |

Time Zones were annoying with Sydney, and I don't think it's gonna get better with Bejing.

What? You think they don't already have a plan to bomb you? You must be dreaming (or naive). :|
But, I must admit that they surely would hurry their plans. (edited for the fun of it) |

Re: (You called him Jeffrey)
With all they've done to the US, Tibet and their own people; FG; they don't deserve it. the past six months have seen 1700 people put to death. Yes, that's their internal business but I still feel the IOC did it to spite US interests.

Re: (You called him Jeffrey)
it has nothing to do with the US, there are other countries you know. However, everyone in the world should be offended by the death rate there
