how old is hagrid?

in the second book it says that harry goes back 50 years into that diary and he sees hagrid. if that was 50 years ago and hagrid was 15 or 16 he has to be in his 60s. im not sure if giants live longer but just wondering what other people think.

edit:im not positive it says 50 years ago im just too lazy to check the book

i make him 66(ish) by the time we get to book 5! Maybe giants live longer?

The one that stumps me i think in OOTP one of the examiners is talking about dumbledor when he did his exams. How old is she?

Hagrid was in his 3rd year when he was expelled 50 years ago, so:

He's 63 years old in CoS, so by the end of OotP, he is 66.

Hagrid being in his 60s makes sense. Wizards seem to live longer than humans anyway, whether giants or not - isn't Dumbledore supposed to be around 150 years old?

I think wizards live longer than humans because they have magical remedies to diseases, arthritis, etc. As for Voldemort, he may be that old, but he came so close to immortality that I can't see age having an effect on him. And his new body would be young, right?

Ageless, I think, rather than young. From the way his body is described in Goblet of Fire, it's barely human: hands like spiders, eyes like a cat's, etc. I agree that he's probably outside normal ageing processes, though.

Eek! I don't like how he was descirbed all those animals put together can't make a pretty picture. But I'd say he was 2 years older than Hagrid cause he was a prefect that puts him in his 5th year. 15+50 is 65 in COS so in OOTP he would be about...68. Just a geuss though he could be older.
