I have been having trouble with my "options" ever since I joined the 'moot. One of the options was "Do you wish to receive a
e-mail when someone replies to your post?" I chose NO, but I am STILL and ALWAYS have been getting a e-mail for every reply someone made a reply to one of the threads I joined. Could you please correct this problem? I got a new job that involves me getting a lot of e-mails but because of this problem, I get so many e-mails the my Boss and fellow Employees can't e-mail me. I thank you, dearly, in advance.

Go back to those threads you get email notices from. Post there and below your message are 4 small boxes. The second one down is "Email Notification"... uncheck that box in each thread that you are getting email notification from.

i chose that as well, but then i subscribed to a thread and it started emailing me again.
if you don't subscribe to threads it won't email you.
to unsubscribe go to your user cp.. on the first page there, all the subscribed threads are listed. just click unsubscribe.

But yeah, unsubscribe to the threads......stops the emails.

yes thats what happened to me and i had like30 emails, i noticed or i asked someone and then i new so i had to unsubscribe to those threads i never new before. i thought i was just the only one with that problem

Also guys, please keep your email addresses valid. I've been getting a ton of bounced emails lately. If your email doesn't work, your email notifications get bounced to me. Please, either keep it up to date or unsubscribe from the threads.

A question (not just for ben but for any of the more technically minded forumites out there).

The email I used to register here has long since rolled over and died.........but how do I replace it with a valid email (without re-registering) ?

Just go to Edit Profile, and you should be able to change your e-mail address there.

Go to "User CP" up top, head over to Edit Profile and enter your new email address in. You may have to get the email address verified before you can post again.

Alright, Silme, follow these instructions.
1) go touser cp
2) click on edit options
2a) the second green bar is Messaging & Notification
2a-i) the first option under that title is: Allow Bulletin Board Administrators and Moderators To Send You Email Notices? ... select NO
2a-ii) the third option under that title is: Use 'Email Notification' by default?... select NO
2a-iii) the 4th option under that title is: Send you an email when you receive a Private Message?... select NO
2b) at the bottom of that screen is a grey bar that says, Submit Modifications... click on that button.

3) when you post in a thread, under the text box are 4 boxes, after Options.
3a) uncheck (by clicking) the 2nd box that is titled: Email Notification.

If these things don't work, I don't know what to tell you. Good luck.

Ok... then next time you get an email, go to that thread, post something and uncheck the 'email notification' for it. Do this for each time. Unless you can remember all the threads you have posted in. If you can, go there and edit and uncheck the 'email notification' box for that post and submit the change. That's all I can tell you for now. I can't think of anything else other than the post above and to this now. Good luck.
