Strider Concerning Beleriand

I just started the Akallabeth in the Silmarillion and I was wondering where Beleriand is located at in comparison to Eriador, Gondor, Mordor etc..?

Beleriand used to lie west of Eriador, west of Ered Luin, the Blue Mountains.

You should get the atlas of middle-earth by Karyn Winn Fonstad. (I'm really not sure if that's the author's name. That's what it sounds like in my mind.)

I think there's a map in the Silmarillion. You can put this map with the LOTR map, (there are few parts in the both of the maps - as Ered Lindon) and see where's Beleriand comparing to Mordor.
You can look for maps in the internet too.

It took me some time to compare the map ot the Silmarillion and the one of LotR. But finally I got the clue.

Yeah, I didn't get it at first either. It doesn't help that there are two Minas Tiriths. Luckily I had help from someone on Entmoot.

I think the differences in the two maps (if I remember correctly) are due to things that Melkor does to the Earth. Or maybe I'm wrong b/c I can't seem to find it anywhere.

It will make sense when you reach the end of the book. See the hill of Himring in north-east Beleriand? and find the isle of Himling off the north-west coast of Middle Earth, west of Ered Luin; they're the same thing at different times.

I really don't like the maps in the english version of LotR, the maps in the german version are bigger and I like the much more. They are easier to "read".

In the hebrew version the maps are better too. I don't know why. Maybe they are more easier to read... the books, themsleves, looks better. With better papers and all. and the handwrite is more clear.
