Gandalf Dr. Eugene Hargrove to lecture at Dallas Symphony LoTR performances

Dr. Eugene Hargrove, whose essays on music and poetry in Middle-earth have earned recognition among Tolkien fans around the world, will be a guest lecturer for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra at their October 7 and 8 peformances of Howard Shore's 'Lord of the Rings' music.

Aaargh, I had the chance to go to those performances of the LoTR movie music. The very first one was in Antwerp and I forgot. I simply forgot to order tickets until the day it started. I heard later from someone who had gone that it had been awesome. Believe me, I'm still kicking myself.

No, Eugene and I link to each other's Web sites and he asked me to update my link to his site. He added a quick comment to the end of his request about the lectures, and I decided it was worth passing on to a lot of Tolkien fans.

Although I've never met him in person, we have corresponded by email and talked on the phone at least once, I think. His work deserves a lot of respect, though I don't agree with all his conclusions (nor he with all of mine).
