Arwen Undomiel Middle Earth Recipes

OK, SGH has given me permission to restart this thread (thanks!). I made some lembas on Sunday in honor of Frodo & Bilbo's birthday, and did a couple things different from the original recipe posted by Tanoliel in the original thread. Here is the first recipe:

1/2 stick butter (unsalted)
1 cup oat flour or ground oats
1 cup flour
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1 Tbl. oil
1 Tbl. honey
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 - 1/2 tsp. cloves or other spice of your choice
Directions: um...cream the butter and then throw everything else in...then knead it out with lots of flour as needed, roll out the dough, cut into rounds, and bake at 350 degrees for about ten minutes.

What I did was double the honey - this makes it a bit sweeter. Also salted butter works fine, I was scared to use it at first for fear that it might do something horrible! but it turned out perfectly. And I decided not to worry about grinding the oats since I have not been able to find oat flour anywhere, and I don't have an effective way to grind oats. So I just used a cup of Quaker oatmeal, which works nicely. So, by starting this thread I hope you guys will be inspired to get experimenting! I'm planning to try some stuff with mushrooms myself, which should be interesting...

Ok, I will allow this thread for the time being as long as it stays on topic and does not get silly or too long.

I would think that there are only so many ways you can make lembas, and with the other closed thread of recipes, this should not become lengthy. If it does, or if it becomes off topic or non-sensical, it will be closed.

If you do try something with mushrooms, please post it! In a very hobbit-like fashion, I adore mushrooms, although usually I just eat them raw in the package from the grocery store. Ok, this will be the last post I make on this thread that does not contain something having to do with recipes.

Mrs. Maggot's Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms

Ingredients:

1/4 cup sweet East Farthing onion, diced
1 teaspoon olive oil (South Gondorian)
1 pinch brown sugar
1/2 cup firm tofu, squeezed dry, crumbled
salt, to taste
1 large portobello mushroom, cleaned, stem removed
1 pinch nutmeg, freshly grated
fresh mint, parsley or cilantro (garnish), chopped

Fire the oven to 350° F. Saute onion with oil and sugar over medium-low heat until onion is soft and transparent, 4 to 5 minutes. Add tofu and salt; lightly brown tofu. Remove from heat.

Place mushroom, stem side up, on a baking sheet. Mound filling over stem side of mushroom; dust with nutmeg. Bake 10 to 15 minutes on middle oven rack. Garnish with mint, parsley or cilantro. To serve, slice into wedges.

I have these three recipes that I made. They are really good. And simple. You should try them sometime.

1: Elven Biscuits

Beat two eggs in a large bowl
Add in one cup of flour, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon baking powder.
Pour in one cup milk.
Finely chop one Elf.
Add to mixture.
Roll out into sheet and cut out rounds.
Bake for 20 minutes at 360 degrees.
Very good with honey.

2. Dwarf Banana Bread.

Make normal banana bread and instead of nuts add one pound diced dwarf.
For an extra good loaf, use only dwarf noses. Available at Mordor-mart

3. Hobbit Breakfast Smoothie

Put one banana, one cup of strawberries, one cup blue berries, one cup milk, and one hobbit in a blender.
Blend until smooth.
Note: For better smoothie, de-fur the hobbit before hand.
Note2: If hobbit does not fit in blender, just cut off feet. It will fit.
Note3: Remember to put lid of blender on first and to hold it down. Hobbit brains are buggers to get off the ceiling.

I can't belive Khamul didn't want me to post these wonder full recipies for all to see.

Sad part is that you've caused this thread to be closed now. Some people just don't read or listen.
