Real Elections are Tomarrow

Vote 4 Nader!!! We need at least 5% of the vote to lose the "3rd Party" status! We will crush the democrats in several years if we can get 5% tomarrow. Tomarrow is the begining of a new era in politics if the Green party gets 5%!

I would vote for Nader if I could, but that's only because I live in a strong Gore state.... If I lived somewhere like Wisconsin, I'd have to go with Gore, because the race is so close there that votes for Nader may push the race to Bush, and I wouldn't want that.

Speaking of the coming election, why don't we hold a mock presidential election right here at Entmoot? Who would you vote for?

I'll cast the first ballot for Nader.

I would vote Gore, and you ought to also. We don't want to push aside the Democrats. That's absolutely ridiculous. I don't really care if Nader get's 5% "tomarrow" but I certainly hope he doesn't cost Gore the election. They have essentially the same views, but Nader has no political experience.

The Greens cannot ever win a national election, they are too extreme. However, if they increase in strength, all they can do is ensure Republican victories, which is not good at all and would actually set back all the Green causes.

My advice is: Vote for someone who can win.

Greens don't lose "3rd party" status by getting 5%. All they get is federal matching funds for the next election. But once the strong Green presidential candidate leaves, the party will likely go the way of other third-parties and collapse. Ross Perot of the Reform Party got 19% of the vote in '92 and 8% in '96, but after he took a backseat in the party, it was taken over by conservative lunatic Pat Buchanan, who averages about a half a percent in the national polls. Looks like the Reform Party is going down, just like the Greens would.

\You know, I've actually started a Nader fan club - believe it or not - right here in North Carolina, although it's not being met too well. The dems are now getting a taste of what it was like in '92 for the GOP, when Perot took away many votes that would have been for Bush more than Clinton.

By the way, Pat Buchanan is every bit as right as Nadar is left, and I happen to respect Buchanan a great deal for his uncompromising stands.

Actually, this isn't quite as concrete as Gore et al. would like you to think... Nader isn't particularly happy with the Democrats either. Democrats and Republicans as two heads on the same Hydra... could be...

Since Nader and the Green party have pretty much the same views, I guess I would want Gore to win. But here in NJ, my vote for Nader won't really won't affect Gore, since he's probably gonna win the state. But in other states where its really close, vote for Gore, cuz a vote for Nader in those states will just hurt Gore, and help Bush.

Btw, I vote for Nader, obviosly.

I have now voted, and of course, I voted for Bush. I voted mostly GOP down the line, except in my county commission race where the Republican is as bad as the Democrat. I didn't vote in that race. There were three local Libertarian candidates, and I voted for them against otherwise unopposed Republicans. (Not that they'll win.)

I flirted with the idea of voting for Nader. If he gets the 5%, then the Green Party really is on it's way. That means the Liberal Vote will be split quite nicely for some time to come.

Actually, I still don't understand why so many of you young folk are willing to support Al Gore. He is dumber than Dan Qualye and almost as wrong as Nader. He is not quite as politically bankrupt as Clinton, and is morally a better man, but no where near as shrewd.

Al Gore is probably the worst Democratic offering since George McGovern.

The Democratic Party has survived as long as it has purely because of the demogoguery of Bill Clinton and the propaganda of the mainstream media.

They have betrayed the nation multiple times both deliberately and through incompetence. They have worked earnestly against freedom and prosperity and have done little or nothing for the causes they aspire.

Look at Gore's campaign this past week. Nothing but a fear smear. They still want to take over the health care industry, to enslave voters to entitlements, to effectively destroy private property, and to increase the power of their institutions in media and education to continue the ongoing socialist indoctrination of our youth.

These guys rule through propaganda, lies, fraud, and usurpation of constitutional authority. They should instead try to govern by principles of freedom and liberty. But they would rather rule and force their agenda down our throats.

You guys really need to learn a little more about why our nation's government is structured the way it is and stop supporting candidates that would overturn the American Way.

Aren't they overlooking the obvious?

Large corporations employ large numbers of people, and usually have large numbers of shareholders.

And large numbers of people are SUPPOSED to wield large power in a democracy. Obviously, thanks to the "representative" system, it doesn't work out that way most of the time, but still...

Therefore, I assume we can add one more vote for Bush from Johnny Lurker?

Er.... how so? Gore may be somewhat misled, and not the greatest personality, but he certainly shows every sign of being the brighter of the two candidates, to put it mildly. Please don't quote at me with the list of supposed "Gore-isms" I've seen too often, which is a list of "Quayle-isms" attributed to Gore. Rather ridiculous, I think, as it shows that Republicans are afraid to admit that Gore is smarter than Bush, which is a definite fact, at least in terms of knowledge and intellect. As for personal values and morals.... well, I won't get into a rant against the current political system now, but I do find people's faith in either of the two major candidates rather disturbing. Hence the reason I wouldn't for either, given the choice.

Well I put my vote in Bush this afternoon. I will agree that our system isn't perfect but after living in a foreign country for 14 years and having NO rights at all I choose to exercise all the rights I have, and that includes voting.
