It could be that the valley of gorgoroth near Mordor is named after the first one... not unlike Grond (the siege weapon) was named after Grond (the mighty warhammer of Morgoth)

It says in the LOTR that the range of ephel duath and the ridges of ered lithui were "but indeed parts of one great wall about the mournful plains of lithlad and gorgoroth..". Was it not those mountain ranges that were near to doriath?

No. Rather the mountains were very steep and dangerous and later on filled with children of Ungoliant-thus ered gorgoroth. The name was likely reused for historical value (and Tolkien repeated himself a lot re: the great Glorifindel debate).

No. The mountain ranges nearest Doriath were Ered Gorgoroth and the Crissaegrim. Next I suppose would be the Ered Wethrin.

The mountain north of Doriath were indeed call the Ered Gorgoroth, because it was on the edge of Nan Dungortheb, where Ungoliant's brood dwelt. The "Gorgoroth" of the Lord of the Rings is quite different. Just the same name, like Finrod's Minas Tirith.
