Game Boy Advanced

I'm thinking about asking for a Gameboy Advanced for Christmas, anyone else own one?

Reason I ask is I'm not sure if I should ask for one or not. I have a Gameboy Color, but for one thing the vertical build is tough because I have large hands and for another the GBA has a larger screen, which is always better for the eyes .

A big pull factor is that they have "The Hobbit" for GBA and on Amazon.com that game didn't get any bad reviews. I also saw some screen shots for it and the game looks awsome.

So any comments?

i have a GBA - had it since the GBAs came out- what, 3 years ago?

After not playing it for months, I picked mine up today due to boredom.

You have a GBC? of course get a GBA! It is much much better and can play all GBC games. Plus, there are some good games like the Mario Advanced series.

Haven't really played any games in months and months though.

I'd suggest asking for a GBA SP.

Do you mean the Gameboy XP (It's X something, I think it's XP). My middle son has it, and the screen is really nice - really well lit. You can play in the dark in the car on long, boring trips, and even in the day, the lit screen is nice.

If you get it, tho, be warned that it only takes special rechargeable batteries. I bought an extra battery pack for it, and also the car charger. There's also this little teensy screwdriver that comes with it to take off the battery cover - woe to you if you lose it!

edit - just saw Hobbit's post - is it SP? Anyway, the one with the screen that is backlit.

Yeah, the newest one is Gameboy Advanced SPecial.

There is no point in getting it if you already have Gameboy Advanced, but you might as well get it if you have GBC.

I believe its $99 and GBA is like $70.

GBA SP is backlit and has rechargeable batteries.

In any event, if you like handhelds, any GBA system is 50x better than GBC. Although, if you have difficulty on GBC with your big hands - GBA is wider.

There will be another GB system released in a year or two though, no doubt.
