AOL and broadband

Is anyone that has AOL having problems. I have been told that AOL is installing AOL 9.0 and may be experiencing difficulties. I have had serious problems maintaining a connection, sending email, IMing, and so on. Is anyone else having these problems?

I have a Roadrunner cable modem, and I really like it.

The only time I ever had AOL is when I got a freebie CDrom in the mail and I used it and dumped it. I got kicked off too much.

Sorry that I can't help you.

Thanks guys. I use a Roadrunner cable modem, but my ISP is AOL. I can only stay on for a few minutes before it stops functioning. It appears to me that I am still connected, but people say that I no longer appear on their buddy lists after a few minutes. This is also when it completely stops functioning. I cannot post to the forums and am now doing that strictly through Internet Explorer. After 5 minutes, I am no longer able to view or send emails or IMs. I don't think it's my computer.

I use Earthlink, and I don't have those problems.

Sounds to me like an AOL problem. I'd give them hell if I were you. You are paying a pretty penny for their services, of which, you are not enjoying.

AOL is garbage. Antiquated and useful only for basic level internet users. definitely look into a cable or DSL solution. take control of your internet....

She said she has a cable modem, but is serviced through AOL.

SGH, find a new provider. You will not lose your AIM nor your buddy list if you do. AIM is offered free over the internet to anyone, provided by AOL.

Well, my brother and I use the same router and he works for AOL, so I can't change my ISP.

Then I would pitch a hissy fit and make them fix the problem.

Well, we called them, and they are definately having problems. This is not effecting any dialup customers. They could not say when the problem would be fixed, and they aren't even sure what the problem is, just that there is one.
