How would you have gone about more successfully toppling Sauron ?

What (serious or humorous) strategies would you have used (or would like to have seen used) to go about successfully toppling Sauron (either with or without the use of the Ring) that would've been different or superior (in your opinion) to what Mr. Tolkien used in his trilogy.

I always liked the old, "grab a few eagles, fly over mt. doom, and let the ring drop" method.

But another interesting method might have been to give Saruman the ring, let him and Sauron duke it out, then knock off the much-weakened victor of the two.

I remember Italain Legolass haveing Gandalf go boom next to Sourons tower...

Now I personaly think that if you managed to force souron out of the ring that they could use boramirs stratagy... Of corce you know the saying "You can take the ring from Souron but you can't take Souron outa' the ring"

Or maybe poke Sourons eye (Movie vertion) he crys and puts himself out!

Or just let Gladreal have it maybe? ("Insted of a dark lord they would have a queen...")

I would have begun by joining his company.

No, I'm not kidding. I would.

Then I would work my way up in the ranks till I was in charge of production. At that point I would start outsourcing jobs to Western Men. Once the loyal employee base had been done away with, I would leave the company without notice, and drain my company credit cards to give him more paperwork to deal with.

Your first step must ALWAYS be to strike at your foe's economy.

After that I would nuke them.

Perhaps pointing out to dear Sauron that his name sounds to audibly similar to Saruman, and thus you weren't too sure who he was. "Dark lord" you say...indeed. "From the Dark tower is it?"...
Let the greatest pressure in Arda destroy him: peer pressure.

Or alternatively, you could have secured the ring and ransomed it to Sauron for part of Middle-earth ( I know that Sauron the deceiver would not have kept his word, but what the hey...) and lived happily with the hobbits in their eventual slavery.

Basically, it's either the Eagles/Ring thing, or send the ring over the sea to the Valar (fence sitters if ever there were any) and have them fire up the Vanyar for a final stouch with Sauron, thing

Or alternatively, just die.
